About this policy
This policy applies to Measured Studio Pty Ltd (ABN 97 701 323 220, ACN 701 323 220), referred to below as "we", "us" or "the studio". We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in that Act.
It covers information collected through this website at measuredstudiotec.site, by email, and in the course of carrying out measured surveys and drawing work for clients in Victoria and elsewhere in Australia.
The personal information we collect
We collect only what we need in order to quote for work, carry it out and keep proper business records. In practice that is:
- Your name, email address and, if you give it to us, a telephone number and postal address.
- The organisation you act for and your role in the project.
- Details of the building to be surveyed, including its address and access arrangements, and the names of contacts who can provide access.
- Correspondence between us, including enquiry messages and project instructions.
- Billing and payment records required for taxation and accounting purposes.
We do not seek sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and we ask that you do not send it to us.
How we collect it
Almost all personal information we hold is collected directly from you — through the enquiry form on the contact page, which opens a message in your own email application, or through email, telephone and in-person conversation about a project.
Where a building is occupied or managed by someone other than our client, we may receive contact details for a tenant, caretaker or managing agent from our client so that site access can be arranged. If we collect your details this way, this policy explains how they are handled.
Why we collect and use it
We use personal information to respond to enquiries and prepare quotations; to arrange site attendance and access; to produce, issue and revise drawing sets; to invoice and be paid; to keep records required by Australian taxation and corporations law; and to resolve any dispute about work we have carried out.
We do not use personal information for direct marketing, we do not sell or rent it to anyone, and we do not use it to build profiles about you.
Cookies, analytics and this website
This website is a set of static pages. It does not set cookies, does not run analytics or advertising scripts, does not embed third-party content, and does not track you between visits. Nothing you type into the contact form is transmitted to or stored on this website — the form simply composes a message in your own email application, which you then choose to send.
Our hosting provider may record standard technical information such as the IP address making a request, the page requested and the time of the request, in server logs used to operate and secure the site. We do not use those logs to identify individuals.
Disclosure to others
We disclose personal information only where it is necessary to deliver the work or where the law requires it. That may include:
- Consultants engaged on the same project, where our client has asked us to issue drawings directly to them.
- Building owners, tenants, caretakers or managing agents, so that site access can be arranged.
- Our accountants, insurers and professional advisers, in confidence.
- Service providers who host our website or email, who may hold the information incidentally.
- A court, tribunal or regulator, where disclosure is required or authorised by Australian law.
Overseas disclosure
Our website hosting and email services may store data on servers located outside Australia. Where that occurs we take reasonable steps, consistent with APP 8, to ensure the provider handles personal information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles. We do not otherwise disclose personal information to overseas recipients.
Storage, security and retention
Personal information is held in our email system and in project files on access-controlled systems. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including access controls, device security and restricting who in the studio can open project records.
We retain project records for as long as they may reasonably be needed to answer questions about a drawing set we have issued, and for at least the period required by Australian taxation and corporations law. When information is no longer needed for any purpose for which it may lawfully be used, and we are not required to retain it, we destroy it or de-identify it.
Accessing and correcting your information
Under APP 12 and APP 13 you may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Write to [email protected] and describe what you are seeking.
We will respond within a reasonable period. We may need to verify your identity first. If we refuse access or refuse to make a correction, we will tell you in writing why, and how you can complain about that decision.
Data breaches
If we become aware of unauthorised access to, or disclosure or loss of, personal information we hold, we will assess it promptly. Where a breach is likely to result in serious harm and the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) applies, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.
Complaints
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please raise it with us first at [email protected]. Set out what happened and what you would like us to do. We will acknowledge your complaint and give you a written response.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may take the complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), which can investigate privacy complaints against organisations covered by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will apply from the date they are published here.
